Norwell Show Choirs Win Big at Shelbyville

Norwell’s two high school show choirs continued on their winning ways Saturday, once again scooping the Grand Champion titles in the respective Small Mixed and Women’s divisions.

The Knight Moves headed off a field of five schools in the Small Mixed Choir Division, while the Knight Stars beat out two other choirs to win the Women’s Division.

In the Small Mixed competition, Norwell headed off Frankfort, Southwestern, Triton Central and Whiteland. Norwell won the caption awards for Best Choreography and Best Vocals, with Lauren Fiechter named Best Soloist.

Southwestern and Whiteland took the runner-up awards.

In the Women’s Division, Norwell headed off Lawrence Central and Brownsburg. Norwell won the caption awards for Best Choreography and Best Vocals, with Alyssa Noble named Best Soloist.

Leslie Sagstetter (Knight Stars) and Addie Johnson (Knight Moves) were named Best Performer for Norwell.

Norwell also took top honors in the Solo Division - twice over, in fact. Emily Lampton and Lauren Fiechter tied for first in this competition.

The top six choir over all competitions were selected to compete in the evening show, and both of Norwell’s choirs qualified to compete against Large Mixed choirs from Bishop Luers, Brownsburg, Colerain and Lawrence Central. Norwell’s choirs were chosen ahead of the Large Mixed choirs from Churubusco, Kokomo and Southmont.

Lawrence Central came out top in this event, edging out Bishop Luers and Brownsburg. Norwell’s choirs placed third and fourth runner-up, ahead of Colerain.

The Knight Moves (13-0 in Small Mixed competition) and Knight Stars (7-0 in Women’s competition) will look to build on their success Saturday at Center Grove.
