Norwell Show Choirs Steal Show at Northrop

Norwell’s two high school show choirs started their season on a high note, with wins in their respective divisions at the 11th annual Northrop Charisma Classique Saturday.

The Knight Moves headed off a full field of nine other schools in the Small Mixed Choir Division, while the Knight Stars beat out five other choirs to win the Women’s Division.

In the Small Mixed competition, Norwell beat out Columbia City and Southwestern. Other competing schools were Crestview, Garrett, Lakeland, Northside, Oak Hill, Twin Lakes and Woodland.

In the Women’s Division, Norwell headed off Waubonsie Valley of Illinois, and Carroll, with Bedford, Homestead and North Lawrence also competing.

Only three special awards were announced, all in the Women’s Division, with Norwell taking both Best Choreography and Best Vocals, while Waubonsie Valley took Best Band.

Addie Johnson was named Best Performer for both Norwell’s choirs.

The Knight Moves (9-0) and Knight Stars (5-0) will look to build on their success Saturday at Shelbyville.
