Norwell’s high school show choirs returned another set of solid results Saturday, competing at the 2nd annual “Northridge Choral Invitational” in Middlebury.
The “Knight Stars” took the top honors in the Women’s Division, heading off competition from Columbia City, Bishop Dwenger, Columbia City, Homestead, Fairfield and Northrop.
The “Knight Stars” also won the caption awards for “Best Choreography”, “Best Vocals” and “Best Stage Crew”.
Norwell’s “Knight Moves” were edged into first runner-up in the small mixed division by Loveland. Norwell won the caption awards for “Best Stage Crew” and “Best Choreography”, but Loveland won “Best Vocals”.
Both choirs progressed from the small mixed division to the evening show to compete against the large choirs and Norwell turned the tables on Loveland on that occasion, placing second runner-up behind Northrop and Huntington North.
Also competing in the Small Mixed Division were Bishop Dwenger, Fairfield and Columbia City.
Missy Nolan shone in the solo division for the second consecutive week, placing third on this occasion.
Hannah Pfaff was named “Best Performer” for Norwell’s “Knight Stars” while Tim McBride was (now 10-0 for the season) named “Best Performer” for the “Knight Moves” (7-1).
Norwell’s middle school choir, the “Knight Sounds” (2-1) did not compete at Northridge.
Norwell now heads to Homestead to compete this Saturday.
