Norwell’s three show choirs started their competition seasons with a successful trip to Center Grove Saturday.
The two high school choirs won the Small Mixed and Women’s divisions at the 23rd annual “Best of the Midwest Show Choir Invitational”, while the “Knight Sounds” middle school choir placed second, behind Edgewood.
In the Solo Division, Missy Nolan placed second.
The “Knight Moves” (4-0) swept the competition in the Small Mixed Choir Division, adding the caption awards for “Best Choreography,” “Best Vocals” and “Best Costume” to their trophy haul. Triton Central and Lakeland led the chase, with Mooresville and Woodlan making up the field.
The “Knight Stars” (5-0) had a tougher path to their championship however, with Zionsville taking the caption awards for “Best Choreography” and “Best Costume”. Norwell won “Best Vocals” and “Best Stage Crew,” and Nolan was named “Best Soloist” in the division. Zionsville placed second behind Norwell, with Lawrence Central leading the rest of the field, which comprised Mooresville, Pike and Princeton.
While placing behind Edgewood in the middle school competition, the “Knight Sounds” (2-1) headed off Hamilton and Southwood.
Norwell choirs continue their competition season this Saturday with a trip to Tippacanoe for the “Northridge High School Invitational”.
Thanks to Denny and Kathy Meyer for the photo and results.
