Norwell's Drum Line Beats Out Competition at "Norwell Invitational"


Norwell’s Winter Percussion Ensemble kicked its competition season off with a winning start on home soil Saturday evening, taking top honors in their PSA Class at the 2011 “Norwell Indoor Percussion Invitational”. 

 

A total of 17 ensembles contested five classes, with two additional winter guard exhibition performances by the jv and varsity squads of the Adams Central Independence Guard, which includes students from Norwell, Adams Central and Belmont. 

 

Norwell outpointed Carroll High School to win the PSA Class for marching percussion ensembles. 

 

Norwell’s competition routine this year is titled “The Borg Within,” and features music composed by Ramin Djawadi. The show was arranged by Dave and Kathryn Lemish, with visual designs by Director John Bay.  

 

In the other class for marching percussion ensembles, Maconaquah won the PSAA class. Three classes of concert percussion were also contested, with Twin Lakes (PSCA), Warsaw (PSCO) and Goshen (PSCW) taking top honors.

1st: Maconaquah (78.65 points)

2nd: Hagerstown (76.05)

3rd: Taylor (74.75)

4th: Knox (62.2)


PSA Class:

1st: Norwell (80.4)

2nd: Carroll (79.0)


Concert Percussion Classes


PSCA Class:

1st: Twin Lakes (82.3) 

2nd: Leo (64.8)

3rd: Monroe Central (62.2)


PSCO Class:

1st: Warsaw (71.7)

2nd: Elkhart (67.8)


PSCW Class:

1st: Goshen (69.6)
