Both Bluffton and Norwell marching bands struck gold Saturday in ISSMA District competition at Homestead.
The competition was the first step on the way to the ISSMA State Finals for both bands. In Class C, Norwell, Angola, Concordia, Heritage and Leo all gained gold ratings, while Whitco and Lakeland were given silver ratings.
Norwell’s Marching Knights also won the caption award for Best General Effects, while Heritage claimed the caption awards for Best Music and Best Visual.
In Class D, Bluffton, Adams Central, Eastside, Garrett and Woodlan all earned gold ratings, while Manchester gained a silver rating.
Bluffton’s Bengal brigade won the caption award for Best Visual, while Adams Central took the caption awards for Best Music and Best General Effects.
Photos will follow either later today (Monday) or tomorrow (Tuesday) - just as soon as I get time. This is turning into one of "those" Mondays with lots of different things happening all at once!
