Norwell's drum line brought another successful season to a close at the State Championships at Ben Davis High School Saturday.
Norwell placed seventh in their PSO class which was won by Pike High School. Ben Davis and Plainfield placed second and third.
Norwell’s Caleb Grover received a special recognition at the competition. Grover was one of only five Indiana drum line students to receive an Indiana Percussion Association Scholarship, receiving a $750.00 scholarship. To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants had to submit an application, essay, letters of recommendation, and academic information. Students chosen as finalists were then required to have a video-taped interview on March 13 at Avon High School.
Saturday’s competition saw seven seniors finish their drum line careers for Norwell. Mallory Elmore, Caleb Grover, Justin Short, Michael Stoller, Skyler Trammel, Tanner Tuttle, Robert Wolf all performed for the final time with the drum line.
