Norwell Music Department to host Spring Fundraiser Saturday

The Norwell High School auditorium will be alive Saturday with the sound of music.

It’s time once again for Norwell’s annual spring fundraising show. In past years, the event has been known as Norwell’s annual “Pork Chop Dinner Fundraiser”. This year, the pork chops are off the menu and chicken is on.

“Back 40” restaurant will be catering this event and the dinner now consists of a chicken leg quarter meal, which includes chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy, roll, drink, and dessert.  There is a children’s meal also, consisting of hot dog, chips, applesauce or green beans, drink, and dessert.

Dinner will be served from 4 to 8 p.m., with the entertainment scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.

Students from Ossian and Lancaster elementary schools, and the Norwell middle and high school, will all take part in the event. Performances will include all the show choirs, the symphonic and pep bands, the drum line, and various other individual efforts.

This year, all of the performances will be held in the auditorium, including the drum line, which has in the past performed the evening’s finale in the gymnasium.

The performance schedule is as follows:

4:30 p.m. - Ossian Elementary.

4:45 p.m. - Lancaster Elementary.

5 p.m. - Knight Sounds (middle school show choir.)

5:30 p.m. - Knight Stars (women’s show choir.)

6 p.m. - Knight Moves (Mixed show choir)

6:45 p.m. - Norwell Middle School 6th grade band.

7 p.m. - Norwell Middle School 7th grade band.

7:15 p.m. - Norwell Middle School 8th grade band.

7:30 p.m. - Norwell Symphonic Band.

8 p.m. - Norwell High School Pep Band.

8:15 p.m. - Norwell High School Winter Drum Line.

The chicken dinner is $8, the hot dog meal is $4, and general admission to the fundraiser without purchasing a meal is $2. Proceeds will provide funds for the music program at Northern Wells Community Schools.
