Norwell Show Choirs Shine at Center Grove
Norwell’s show choirs continued their tradition of winning big at Center Grove with another haul of trophies at Saturday’s 24th annual “Best of the Midwest” competition.
For the third week in a row, Norwell won both its Small Mixed and Women’s division competitions.
In the Small Mixed Division, Norwell out-pointed Shelbyville, Southmont and Triton Central. There were no additional caption awards presented in this competition.
In the Women’s Division, the Knight Stars headed off choirs from Lawrence Central and Princeton. Norwell won both group caption wards – Best Choreography and Best Vocals – in this division, while Alyssa Noble was named Best Soloist.
Competition organizers presented an overall Mixed Choir award, based on scores in the separate divisions. Lawrence Central (winner of the Large Mixed Division) was named overall Grand Champion, with Norwell’s Knight Moves first runner-up, ahead of the Large Mixed choirs from Kokomo and Roncalli.
Norwell also featured in the Solo Division, with Bailey Nodine placing first runner-up.
The Knight Moves (16-0 in Small Mixed competition) and Knight Stars (9-0 in Women’s competition) will look to build on their success Saturday at Northridge.
