Norwell Show Choir Students Still Fundraising For New York

Norwell show choir members and supporters are still looking for work opportunities to help fundraising that will enable all the students to take part in the upcoming (April) competition in Radio City Music Hall in New York.

Mike Lampton and Mary Nolan advised that they have received many helpful calls from individuals and businesses, and thank all who have provided opportunities so far.

The students are still looking for work opportunities to help with the project though. If you want leaves raked, homes cleaned, or any other work that might be suitable, please feel free to contact Mike or Mary:

'Christmas Magic' on Show at Norwell

There will be a touch of “Christmas Magic” on display at Norwell High School this weekend.

Sunday, Dec. 12, will see the Norwell Show Choirs, both high and middle schools, present their Holiday Christmas Show, “Christmas Magic.”

The show will begin at 3:30 p.m., with sacred and traditional Christmas songs performed. Former students of show choir Director Carla Doles will be invited once again to join in the performance of “Carol of the Bells.”

There will also be a “Silent Night Auction” for last minute Christmas shoppers. These gift baskets, offered through a silent auction, will be filled with goodies donated by the community and show choir parents.

A Candy Cane Corner will offer hot chocolate, coffee and desserts, which will be sold before the show, during intermission, and after the show.

Tickets for the show cost $8 for adults and $5 for students and may be purchased from an Norwell Show Choir student or at the door.

Proceeds from the event will be used to help fund the upcoming show choir season, as well as purchase needed items for the choirs.

Blast From The Past!

Recognise anyone?

Tom Neuenschwander sent us this photo of the 1968 Norwell Marching Band.  He advises the photo was taken the day before the present Norwell High School building officially opened its doors in the fall of 1968.

The band was under the direction of the late Gary Link. It won many first places in the fall 1968 competitions, including the Bluffton Street Fair Band Contest.

Leading the band were Drum Major Duane Smith and Head twirlet Cheryl (Hiday) Martz, and behind them were seven Herald Trumpets.

Tom advises that when the band started playing at the Bluffton Regional Center, it could be heard out at Dustman Road.

Thanks to Tom for the photo and information.

Norwell Show Choir's "Breakfast With Santa" Set For Dec. 4

(Note: I will be re-advertising this closer to the date - this is just a "heads-up" for now)

Norwell High School Show Choirs and Ossian Elementary school will join forces Saturday, Dec. 4, to bring “Breakfast with Santa” to the elementary school cafeteria.

The breakfast, which will be held from 9 to 11 a.m.,  will provide the opportunity to visit with Santa and for children to take their pictures with him.

The menu will include biscuits and gravy, hash browns, smoky links, cereal, donuts, dutch crunch dessert, coffee, milk and juice.

There is a $5 per person charge, however infants under the age of six months and accompanied by paying family members will be free. Pictures taken with Santa are included in the cost.

Children can also visit the Little Elves’ Store where they can shop for gifts for  family members. Santa’s helpers will be available to assist children with their gift choices and wrapping. Most gifts are $2.

Money raised from the event will help towards the costs of the show choir program.
